What is the easiest language to learn? If you are asking yourself this question, you are in the right place! In this article I’m going to answer it.
So, what do you think, what is the easiest language to learn? Spanish, French, Italian, Esperanto? These languages are frequently considered to be the easiest ones. However, it’s only partly true.
It’s up to you
If you speak English, then any Romance language should be easier for you – many English words are of French or Spanish origin. Does it mean than these languages are the easiest? No! It only means that they are similar.
If you have the wrong approach, i.e. you think that Spanish verb conjugations are crazy and super difficult or French pronunciation is impossible to learn, then these languages will be the most difficult languages in the world for you. Even if hundreds of words are similar to English words that you already know.
I’m trying to say that there’s no right answer to the question “what is the easiest language to learn”. What matters is your approach, not verb conjugations, different alphabet or strange pronunciation.
So-called difficult languages
Japanese, Chinese or Arabic are considered to be one of the most difficult languages in the world. Yet, many people learn them and even speak them fluently. Some of them learn really quickly – after a year or two they are very good, other need a few years.
On the other hand, many people struggle with Spanish or French (“the easiest languages”) for a few years. Why? Because they believe that these languages are difficult. And it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The right approach
With the right approach, everything is easy. If you think that something is difficult, it will be difficult for you. If you think that something is easy, it will be easy. It’s that simple.
If you are looking for the easiest language to learn, then find a personal reason to learn a specific language (you need to have a clear goal), stop complaining, focus on the positive things (things that are easy and straightforward) and just enjoy learning it. And then it will become the easiest language in the world.
